भारतीय जनता पार्टी की आईटी सेल के प्रमुख अमित मालवीय द्वारा द वायर   व उसके संपादकों के खिलाफ दर्ज कराई गई एफआईआर के सिलसिले में, दिल्ली पुलिस ने सोमवार को कई जगहों पर तलाशी ली. इस दौरान पुलिस ने उनके दफ्तर से मोबाइल और लैपटॉप जब्त किए. यह तलाशी क्राइम ब्रांच द्वारा नई दिल्ली स्थित सिद्धार्थ वरदराजन, एमके वेणु, डिप्टी एडिटर और एग्जीक्यूटिव न्यूज़ प्रोड्यूसर जाह्नवी सेन और मुंबई में रहने वाले सिद्धार्थ भाटिया के घर पर की गई. दिल्ली स्थित सिद्धार्थ वरदराजन के घर पर पुलिस की टीम सोमवार शाम करीब 4:10 बजे पहुंची और करीब तीन घंटे बाद 7 बजे वहां से वापस गई. तलाशी के बाद पुलिस ने सिद्धार्थ के दो मोबाइल फोन, एक लैपटॉप और एक आईपैड को जब्त कर लिया, साथ ही उनकी निजी और कंपनी ईमेल आईडी का पासवर्ड भी पुलिस ने ले लिया.  दिल्ली पुलिस ने यह तलाशी आईपीसी की धारा 91 के तहत की, जिसके तहत दस्तावेज और अन्य सामान प्रस्तुत करने का समन भेजा जाता है. तलाशी को लेकर वरदराजन ने न्यूज़लॉन्ड्री को बताया, “पत्रकारिता में एक प्रकाशन संस्था से कोई गलती हुई जिसे उसने स्वीकारा है, वापस लिया है और उसके लिए माफी भी मां

बीजेपी आईटी सेल प्रमुख अमित मालवीय की शिकायत पर दिल्ली पुलिस ने द वायर और उसके संपादकों के खिलाफ केस दर्ज कर लिया है. मालवीय ने दिल्ली पुलिस के विशेष आयुक्त (अपराध) को अपनी शिकायत दी थी. जिसमें ‘द वायर’, उसके संस्थापक संपादकों सिद्धार्थ वरदराजन, सिद्धार्थ भाटिया और एम. के. वेणु, डिप्टी एडिटर और एग्जीक्यूटिव न्यूज़ प्रोड्यूसर जाह्नवी सेन, फाउंडेशन फॉर इंडिपेंडेंट जर्नलिज्म और अन्य अज्ञात लोगों का नाम दिया है.  पुलिस ने भारतीय दंड संहिता की धाराओं 420 (धोखाधड़ी), 468, 469 (फर्जीवाड़ा), 471 (ठगी), 500 (मानहानि), 120बी (आपराधिक साजिश) और 34 (आपराधिक गतिविधि) में केस दर्ज किया है.  मालवीय पश्चिम बंगाल में बीजेपी से सह प्रभारी भी हैं. उन्होंने दिल्ली पुलिस को अपनी शिकायत भेजने से पहले एक बयान भी जारी किया था. जिसमें उन्होंने कहा था कि वायर ने फर्जी दस्तावेजों के जरिए उनकी छवि और प्रतिष्ठा को धूमिल करने की कोशिश की है.  एक ओर जहां दिल्ली पुलिस ने द वायर और उसके संपादकों के खिलाफ केस दर्ज किया है. वहीं द वायर ने रिसर्चर देवेश कुमार के खिलाफ पुलिस में शिकायत दर्ज कराई है. वायर ने देवेश पर म

Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai denied on Sunday that his office had attempted to “bribe” journalists with cash in Diwali hampers.  “This is the result of Congress’s toolkit,” he said. “They are trying to create a lie. I have not given any instructions to anyone.” The News Minute on October 28 had reported on how Bommai’s office allegedly offered reporters and editors amounts “ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh in the guise of Deepavali hampers”. The government is “not really interested in playing the role of an ombudsman” but is taking that responsibility “reluctantly” as the intermediaries’ grievance redressal mechanism is “broken”, union minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar told the media on Saturday. The remarks by the minister of state for electronics and information technology come a day after the government notified amendments to the IT Rules. Through these amendments, the government will now appoint a grievance appellate committee to adjudicate grievances related to intermediaries’ content moderation decisions. How have things changed between successive governments?  These were some of the questions considered during the session “How Indian government views the foreign press” at The Media Rumble 2022, which took place in Delhi on October 14 and 15. In his arrest and the accusation of supporting violent protests over the anti-Prophet remarks in Kanpur on June 3, a ghost from the past has come to haunt Mukhtar Baba, his family, and his biryani business. Over the last few years, the 65-year-old got clean chits from the local administration following complaints that he usurped enemy property and encroached upon a temple that stood upon it in Kanpur’s Beconganj. But in April, what he called his land was again termed enemy property in a union home ministry notice, and Baba moved the Allahabad High Court.  While a final decision is yet to be arrived at, multiple reports preceding and following Baba’s arrest in June bolstered claims that his biryani business was an encroachment on enemy property and a temple – without seeking the version of his family. Rishi Sunak is the UK’s new prime minister, and Indians across the world are tripping over themselves to claim him as one of their own. The Conservative leader, whose parents migrated to the UK from East Africa, met King Charles last evening and was officially invited to form a new government.  So, was Sunak front-page news across English newspapers in India?
