Unlocking April with 4 NL interviews made free
It’s April, the time for spring, tax filings in a fresh assessment year, and pranks.
To keep up with the spirit of this month, we decided to take a walk down our paywalled inventory, to fish for gems that must be shared with our audiences. Four paywalled NL interviews are now free for public viewing. But only for April.
And no, it’s not a hoax.
Tajinder Bagga, the Delhi BJP spokesperson and founder of the Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena sat down for a conversation with Abhinandan Sekhri back in 2012. He, his party, and the country have come a long way since.
In another interview in 2015, Manohar Lal Sharma, the defence lawyer in the Nirbhaya gang-rape case, shared some gyaan on rape victims and suspects, giving insights into the root cause for rape culture.
Who can forget “facts are not facts” – a crown jewel of the meme world? Long before he came up with his propaganda Kashmir Files, filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri spoke to us in 2016 about being a “moderate” and having an equal distaste for the far left and right-wing.
And last year, Salvatore Babones, a sociologist and writer, tried to explain why he thinks Indian intellectuals are “important contributors” to India’s poor image in the west. This came weeks after he was in the news for his remarks that “India’s intellectual class is anti-India”. He also said American democracy is “very robust, and Donald Trump would make it more robust than it would otherwise be”.
As of now, all NL Interviews, podcasts (NL Hafta, Let's Talk About, Awful and Awesome), special ground reports, and comics are behind the paywall. Except these four interviews, which will stay free for public viewing this month.
